Drawings for my family

I did some drawings for my cousins. Popeye was fun, and Sheriff Woody I put my own twist on. I was also asked to draw Animal from the Muppets fighting the Tasmanian Devil.

Raccoonicorn

A friend of mine wants to make a stop-motion puppet of a fantasy creature. She came up with a Racoonicorn, and asked me to design it. So here's my take.

Stormtrooper Commission

This is my first Commission and actually my first time drawing a Stormtrooper. The pose is a little weak but other than that I was happy with results.

More paying gigs

My first round with these characters seemed popular enough to be requested to draw them again. My colouring is soo slow! I tried to lay down flat colours and then work with grey on a multiply layer. It seemed to work alright.

Rat Fist

I discovered Doug TenNapel's webcomic Ratfist today, I got as far as page 33 and decided I had to go fanboy and draw him. This was the first time I've drawn Ratfist so I made sure i was happy with my pencils and then went with a really loose brush style for inking. I hope you enjoy.

Joe Zombie Brush Pen

I just came home from the Jeff Lemire exhibition at Unreal City, and saw that he works from rough blueline pencils to inks. I am still getting comfortable with working loose but it is much quicker.

Joe Zombie marker sketch

I am still playing around with my Joe Zombie style. I just roughed in the pencils and then went straight to inking with my brush pen.

Wolverine Commission

I got a commission for a Wolverine picture. Its a birthday present so I hope he enjoys it.

Ive been working on a handful of projects for other people. I played around with the style on this one, and had fun doing all the tonal work with my copic markers.

ZG Bacon and Eggs

I am trying to stream line my artwork. One of my biggest problems is getting a page done in a day. So for this image I did a rough thumbnail, printed it out and skipped the tight pencils and went straight to inking. I have been watching Riley Rossmo work and this seems to be his approach. I have tried it in the past and was unsatisfied with the results, but this time around I saw definite improvement. I would gage that it took 6-7 hours to get to this finished ink state.

Zap Girl Shrunken Head

The Atomic Tiki runs around with the shrunken head of his bartender. Ive drawn the shrunken head a few different ways but I think I have settled on this design.

A friend of mine had the idea of a goblin punk band...this is what I came up with.

I met Jim Zub at the Seattle Comic Con this past weekend, and came home with a hard cover version of his book Skull Kickers. Here's my twist on his characters.

The Savage Dragon sketch

Im off to the Seattle Comic Con tomorrow, I found out Erik Larson was going to be there so I went fan boy and drew the Dragon. Just for the record I don't think I have ever drawn the fin right.

ZG In the Drink...

The mob plays a big role in Zap Girl, and in my comic I wanted the Mob to dumb there victims in space.
